a brown dial with a bronze bezel insert. Each watch is unique and each variation looks strikingly different. You could also get the two-tone watch in black dial with black bezel insert, or brown dial with bronze and gold insert (the "Root Beer") GMT. The brown dial featured a soleil or sunburst finish. This gave it an extra dimension.

The Devil is in the Detail
This is something I say often and it is truer than ever. Rolex collectors are passionate about the details. Collectors can keep track of every reference's chronology by keeping track of every letter, dash and font size. The 16710 saw many changes and variations over its 18-year history. Rolex began to give steel watches codes based on the factory-fitted bezel inserts. To signify black, Pepsi, and Coke respectively, the letters A, B, and N were used. There was now a 16710A for Coke, 16710B for Pepsi and 16710N respectively. Triplets were also present in the family, but they weren't all identical.
The luminous material used for the dials and hands also changed. Rolex still used tritium for its lume in 1989. Although it is very safe, tritium is still radioactive so the dial must be marked accordingly.Replica IWC Portuguese watches
The dial's bottom edge was marked "SWISS T25" until 1997. This indicated that the current tritium was emitting less then 25mCi. Rolex began using LumiNova in 1998.

LumiNova was patented by a Japanese firm. It was not radioactive but was photoluminescent and was therefore completely harmless. These dials were made for a short time, lasting approximately 18 months. Patek Philippe Replica Watches
They can be identified by the simple word "SWISS" at the dial's bottom. In 2000, a new photoluminescent material called Super-LumiNova was developed. These dials were marked at the bottom with "SWISS MADE" These are the three markings collectors use to refer to each dial model. Due to the short production runs, the LumiNova Swiss-only dials have been considered the most rare.

In my opinion, the Rolex 16710s was the last Rolex model with the vintage look. This was the last generation GMT with the original case proportions. The watches also had the last fully brushed bracelets before the introduction polished center links. The classic Jubilee steel bracelet ref. 16710 GMT2 was also available. The standard 20mm Rolex bracelet, ref. 62510, was available with the 16710 GMT2 watch.
